Nationwide Building Society ordered to reinstate sacked Montrose manager – The Nationwide Building Society has been ordered to reinstate a Tayside branch manager it unfairly sacked. An employment tribunal in Dundee ruled the Nationwide had “absolutely nothing” on which to base any conclusion that Claire Carnegie was guilty of fraud (The Courier)
  3. Council compensates staff made redundant – More than 150 laid-off Barnet Council staff who won an employment tribunal last year will receive a share of a compensation settlement worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. Barnet Unison won the tribunal against the local authority and its parking contractor NSL in February 2013 after a judge ruled it had breached redundancy regulations by failing to give the trade union adequate information about its employment of agency staff (Barnet Today)
  4. Woman branded ‘jealous’ by boss over his relationship with her housemate takes sacking case – A website copy editor, branded jealous by her boss, claims she was unfairly dismissed following a series of late-night communications, including a sexually-suggestive text and Facebook messages (The Independent.ie)
  5. BECTU wins compensation for VFX workers – BECTU has won compensation for a group of union members made redundant by Cinesite VFX Ltd. Cinesite VFX Ltd declared 30 posts redundant in April 2013, immediately after effecting a TUPE transfer from an associated company, Cinesite Ltd (BECTU)
  6. Council faces £80,000 payout to Asperger’s teacher who was unfairly dismissed – Perth and Kinross Council has been ordered to pay almost £80,000 to a teacher who suffered from Asperger’s syndrome and was unfairly dismissed. An employment tribunal ruled that John Fotheringham, of 
Dunblane, was discriminated against by the council because of his disability and was entitled to receive compensation (The Courier)
  7. ‘Idiot’ workmates cowered as randy boss harassed me at work – A sales executive who claims her boss was pestering her to have a threesome told yesterday how male colleagues “cowered behind their computers” while the harassment went on (The Express)
  8. Manager called employee ‘pissy pants’ after being told of bladder infection, employment tribunal told – A manager called a female sales executive “pissy pants” and told her she was up all night having sex after she informed him about her bladder problem, a tribunal has heard (The Independent.ie)
  9. Payout for lost job for Lancashire Council staff member – Lancashire County Council leader Coun Jenny Mein has authorised officials to settle compensation with a staff member who was made redundant. Her decision is to prevent the woman’s claim going to an employment tribunal (The Lancashire Telegraph)
  10. Wrexham church choir boss Jacqui Blore gets payout after redundancy – A former choir director made redundant by church leaders has received a five-figure payment after threatening to go to an employment tribunal. Members of Wrexham’s St Giles Church choir quit in support of Jacqui Blore after she lost her job last August (BBC)
