  5. Disabled kitchen porter sacked from restaurant run by weddings heartbreak hotel boss – A disabled kitchen porter was fired from a restaurant run by an under-fire former hotel manager. Stuart Shearer – who recently hit the headlines after leaving dozens of wedding couples heartbroken – played a major role in the sacking of the 40-year-old, who has Asperger Syndrome (The Daily Record)
  6. Court of Appeal rules against Nottingham City Council in pay progression case – The Court of Appeal has ruled that Nottingham City Council was in breach of contract for failing to award employees incremental pay progression increases (Employee Benefits)
  7. Senior civil servant wins employment case against the Commonwealth Secretariat – A senior civil servant, who was subjected to an aggressive press campaign to damage his reputation, has won his employment claim against the Commonwealth Secretariat (Lexology)
  8. Sacked teen ‘treated shockingly’ by Dundee nursery wins £10k at employment tribunal – A teenage nursery worker was awarded £10,000 after her employers wrongly accused her of swearing in front of children and dropping a child “face first” on a bus (The Evening Telegraph)
  9. Employee was unfairly dismissed in ‘ham fisted’ redundancy process, tribunal finds – A vitamin saleswoman put through a “ham fisted” redundancy process that she claimed others younger than her were not subject to was substantively and procedurally unfairly dismissed, the Liverpool Employment Tribunal has found (People Management)
  10. Plymouth barrister ‘sacked by homophobic gang at law firm’ tribunal told – A top QC took £75 from his chamber’s funds to pay for private treatment when his daughter got a splinter in her finger, an employment tribunal heard. And when fellow barrister Karen Gillard, a former Plymouth political leader, leaked the story about Anthony Metzer, QC, to website Legal Cheek she was sacked, the hearing was told (Plymouth Herald)
