  1. Jaguar Land Rover fined £900,000 after worker injured – National car manufacturer Jaguar Landover has been fined after a worker lost their leg following a car accident. Birmingham Crown Court heard that on Sunday 8 February 2015 at Jaguar’s Lode Lane plant in Solihull, a Range Rover Sport vehicle was driven toward the start of the production line, an event that normally happens 48 times an hour (HSE)
  2. Hull KR coach Tim Sheens ‘to face Salford in employment tribunal over alleged unpaid wages’ – Hull KR coach Tim Sheens is to face his former club Salford at an employment tribunal, with the Red Devils’ ex-Director of Rugby said to be claiming in excess of £50,000 in alleged unpaid wages, according to League Express (The Hull Daily Mail)
  3. Tribunal backs judges in pensions dispute – The employment tribunal has ruled that the government’s transitional pension arrangements for 210 judges amount to unlawful age discrimination, in a judgment that could have far-reaching consequences for public sector employers (The Law Society Gazette)
  4. Embattled force settles race tribunal claim – Under-fire Cleveland Police has agreed a payout understood to be worth more than £185,000 to four officers over claims of racial discrimination and victimisation of whistleblowers. An employment tribunal involving four officers, Inspector Michael Wall, Sergeant Waseem Khan, PC Sharday Malik and PC Paul Brown, the former chair of the Cleveland Police Federation, was due to take place this month (The Darlington and Stockton Times)
  5. Working on Wheels ceases trading after £130k tribunal ruling – An umbrella body for mobile community work has ceased trading after an employment tribunal ruled that it should pay a former employee almost £130,000 in compensation for unfair dismissal (Third Sector)
  6. GMP settles case brought by senior cop who claimed she was ‘fitted up’ – A senior police officer has settled her employment tribunal case against Greater Manchester Police after the force admitted part of the investigation into her had been biased (The Manchester Evening News)
  7. Former Phones 4u employees win redundancy pay after two years – More than 400 former employees of Phones 4u have won around £1.4 million in redundancy pay, more than two years after the firm went bust (ITV)
  8. MoD sacked doctor for raising alarm on missing morphine, tribunal hears – The Ministry of Defence dismissed a senior doctor in order to cover up the disappearance of a large quantity of morphine from an army base, an employment tribunal has been told (The Guardian)

    Overall I am satisfied with the performance from Redmans. The reason I have given 4 stars is that I had quite a lot difficulty in contacting the representative which was initially nominated for me. However, when I contacted Chris instead, he was excellent over the phone and secured a great outcome in short order. I would recommend Redmans Solicitors.
